Fatal flaw in this blog !

First of all, thanks for all the support. I have been overwhelmed by the response to this blog, and the emails I have received about it in addition to the comments posted. We have had over 97 visitors just over this past weekend. It has all encouraged me to to push ahead with this idea.

Unfortunately this blog has a fatal flaw (2 actually)

As I mentioned, the reason I started this blog was to allow you to give your comments and questions back to me and get involved in the conversation.

Here are the problems:

Number 1: the comment feature does not seem to work for everyone so a huge number of people have been unable to leave a message. Not sure what the reason is for this, but I'm not even going to try to fix it because of the even bigger problem number 2...

Number 2: Here's the real problem. Although the comment field lets you put in your comments and feedback, there is no way for you to know whether or not I have answered you without coming back to visit this blog and check periodically. That is just not a very nice way to hold a conversation. Its fine for me, but not very nice at all for you.

Because of this I will be shutting this site down.

So here's the good news.

I have already been working on a solution to this that will not only let you leave your comments and questions, but also allow you to pick topics that you are intersted in and get email notifications whenever something is added to that conversation. With the click of a button you can enable this feature for one of your own questions, or for a topic someone else asked about that you are interested in.

When you are no longer intersted in a particular subject or conversation stream you just click a button to stop the email notifications for that topic. You can still go the site and see what's happening with the conversation at any time.

We already have this working in test mode, so you should see this new site up very soon.

Thanks again for all the support I've received for this idea. I am so excited, and a more than a little humbled that so many people are interested in what I have to say.

Welcome to the Conversation

I am very excited to be launching the new Management Training blog today.

The reason I'm so excited about this is because it gives me a way to stop doing all the talking and invite you into the conversation.

I'm talking about the comment box.

At the end of every blog post you will find a little link that says "comments" or "Leave a Comment". Just click it and see how it works.

I'm serious, go ahead and try it out now.

Click on "Leave a Comment" and send me a message.

Something simple like "Hi from Daryl in Calgary Canada" would be great.

Telling me where you're from is very helpful because it lets me know the blog is working properly in different countries.

If you do have a management question or challenge on your mind right now, go ahead and post it. I'll do my best to get you some answers.

To be honest this whole blog thing is a bit of an experiment right now so I want to see if people think it will be useful. If you like the idea and you let me know, this could become a very valuable resource for getting your questions answered and seeing what other managers are concerned about.
